Why does it matter? If I post "I want them to survive", it's not going to stop them having filmed the episode months ago where they were killed off, is it? Or visa versa.

Besides, we've seen Rory and Amy die before. Several times in fact.

Time travel for an archaeolgist is in many ways rather pointless. You take an archaeologist into the past and the very material they need to base their findings on doesn't exist yet - so kind of pointless, really. They can't do their job.
