I thought that the first 3 minutes or so were very good. It was tense, gripping and scary. However once the episode got going it quickly descended into a confused mess. The meandering plot went nowhere and the scary snowmen were hardly used at all. Instead we had lots of Tim Burton style fantasy sequences with the new companion climbing a magic staircase. The Sontaran & Silurian seemed to be in the story for no reason at all . Perhaps they had spare constumes lying around. The depiction of the Sontaran as a comedy turn seemed designed to have Bob Holmes spinning in his grave. Obviously Moffat believes that this kind of rubbish appeals to kids , missing the point of Doctor Who completely ie a programme for both children and adults to enjoy.
