Aren't they all too old? What age is Ben now?

According to spara, Ben was born on June 18, 1980 - making him 32.
Mind you, the Whoniverse present is now 2017+ish so he could be said to be pushing 40.

I am not sure whether to 'let Ben age' or to keep him in his mid-20s.

I am not sure whether to 'let Ben age' or to keep him in his mid-20s. People age. It's a fact of life. If you want Ben to be immortal then I suggest you write an epic story of how he gains this power. Preferably a third Orhids-story. With Ben (played by Adam Rickitt) having sex with Alistair (played by Adam Rickitt).

It's all the problem of not giving up on Ben's character long ago. When he met the Doctor he was 25, but since spara insists on staying with Ben, of course he's going to age and it would be ridiculous to think otherwise. Look at the statistics...
Rose - started at 19 and in JE was 27 Jackie - first seen at 37 last seen at 45 Mickey - introduced at 23, in TEOT was 35 Captain Jack - plastic surgery and immortality aside, he's 2,500 years at least when last seen Martha - in Smith & Jones she was 25, when we last saw her she was 30 Donna - 36 in The Runaway Bride, 40 when she married Shaun Temple Amy Pond - introduced at 7, she's 39 when the angels zap her Rory Williams - introduced at 19, he's 39 when he's zapped.
and, most significantly of all -
Sarah Jane Smith - 23 in Season 11, it's established in TSJAs she's in her early 60s when she met the Eleventh Doctor.
The only reason to keep Ben 20 is to prevent any character development or growth that an older character might learn from their mistakes and change their behavior.

I think you should use Amanda Redman.
