One of the most underrated stories in my view. It never seemed to do very well in DWM polls. Yes its Graham Williams but its still a great gothic horror style story.

It's underrated because it's an ill-thought out quatermass rip off that sidelines the Doctor and reveals that
- the number 13 being unlucky - race memory - evolutionary leaps - ghosts - second sight - salt being special - the dark side of man's nature - the primal fear of snakes - deja vu - the asteroid belt - the depleted ozone layer on Mars - all human civilization and achievement - and many many more
were all caused by ONE alien. How contrived is that?

The main point is that it was a story which had the right sense of mystery and horror elements that epitomise classic early Tom Baker Doctor Who. Before it went downhill in seasons 16 & 17.

Scott Fredericks is a dirty sod. That is all.

Pah! Season 15 is infantile, psuedo-satirical crap! Season 17 has stories about industrial disputes, child murder, drug smuggling, mind-rape, suicide... as well as higher ratings than the rest of Doctor Who put together! Season 16 pioneered the story arc as well as character-driven material that didn't rely on shoddy monsters like the Fendahl to pad out four episodes!
Doctor Who had been Gothic for four years - that's longer than three Doctors! It was time for a change, and it went forwards instead of bottom-feeding 'let's go back to the Pertwee era' feebleness! INNOVATION! IMAGINATION! THAT IS THE SPIRIT OF DOCTOR WHO!
Without it, Doctor Who would never have got out of Totter's Yard.

Scott Fredericks is a dirty sod. That is all. I have no idea as to why Scott Fredericks might be "a dirty sod". I didn't notice any dirty soddery going on in Image of the Fendahl.

He tied up Adam Colby and stripped him to the waist at gunpoint in front of twelve yokels...
