As the end of the 2005 series is linked up to the Christmas special by a special miniepisode, I am aussimg the same will apply here.
"TEARS OF THE ANGEL"
Part 1
The TARDIS lands in a store room in Albion Hospital and the Doctor, Adam and Jack step out. They have just defeated the recent Cyberman invasion with the aide of the nanogenes Jack used in 'The Empty Child' but have recieved an urgent text message from Ben urging them to come to the hospital. The three head to reception and check the admission lists, learning that Jackie Tyler has been brought in having collapsed from eating genetically-modified food and then died on the operating theatre. The three find the distraught Ben and comfort him. Ben explains that Rose has run off in tears and told him that she no longer wants to travel with them in the TARDIS. Adam thinks they should follow her, but the Doctor firmly tells him that Rose must be allowed to make her own choices. Jack explains to Ben about their adventures in Scotland and Ben suggests that they use the nanogenes to bring Jackie back to life. The Doctor refuses, explaining that the genes have shut down and while they defeated the CyberPlague, the brain tumor that killed Jackie was entirely separate and must be allowed to stand. "We do not get to choose who lives and who dies," he tells them all with authority. "Everything dies and everything must have its time to die." Adam is angry, believing that if they do not use their powers to save people, then there is no point trying to stop villains like Van Statten from damaging the world. Upset, he storms off and Jack runs after him to try and make him reconsider. Leaving the Doctor to sort out the funeral arrangements for Jackie, Ben goes searching for Rose. Hours pass as Ben moves through the city streets and alleys looking for Rose. Some teenage girls whistle at him and offer to give him a good time, but he tells them that he is in a committed relationship and would not have sex with clearly-underage young women. They swear and throw some cigarettes at him, and Ben runs away. He stops as he reaches the Soho district and sees a huge crowd forming outside one of the adult theatres. Assuming it is some kind of unsophisticated movie premiere, Ben nimbly makes his way through the milling crowds. It is there he sees Allan Goldcrest (Phil Jupitus), a jolly-looking hustler who invites people into the theatre. "Its a new millennium, folks, and have I got a show for you? The show of shows! A real-live angel! Heaven-sent for the new millennium, maybe even from the dawn of time! An angel, folks! An honest-to-god Angel! May God strike me dead if I'm lying, folks, she's right inside this theatre and you can come in and see for only £100! At first I found this hard to believe but I'm telling you it;s true! This is the real thing, an angel, the Angel of Soho Square and if you don't believe me, just ask my paying customers!" A crowd of awestruck British citizens are leaving the theatre, gasping things like "A miracle!" and "she was so beautiful!" and "Oh my god, an angel!" as Goldcrest laughs sinisterly and throws around the banknotes the customers have given him...
Ben is intrigued. Alas, still needing to find Rose, Ben recommensurates his search through the gutters and alleys of Soho. Hours pass and, out of any logical alternatives, Ben finally returns to the Powell Estate where his keen eyes spot the light on in Rose's flat. Swift as the greyhound, Ben ascends the stairs to the flat and pushes open the door, mouth open to reproach Rose for all the worry and distress she has selfishly put him through. But as the door opens, Ben sees..............

"The Tears of the Angel"
Part 2
Ben opens the door to the flat and sees....... ............Rose, sitting on the couch, hugging a jacket and crying. Although he feels he should berate Rose for her unkind actions, Ben realizes he should give her support and puts his arms around her. She buries her head into his embrace, sobbing like a young infant baby. "Rose, you can't just give up on me," Ben says gently: "But I lost me mum. I've got no one else in the world and I went off wiv the Doctor and you and left her behind and now she's dead. I can't go on." Rose weeps fitfully: "Your mother wouldn't want you to waste your life hanging around this backward hellhole!" said Ben impressively. "All mothers want the best for their children and if you don't keep on finding a better education and a proper career, than these sacrifices that your mother have made are for nothing. You can't just throw it all away!" Rose wipes away her tears. "You're right. Oh, Ben, you're always right. How come you always know the right thing to say?" she asks, kissing his rose petal lips and unbuttoning his shirt. Ben allows her to work out her grief and passion on him as night falls. Later, in bed, Rose has her head resting on his smoothe and glistening chest. "Dyou ever like think about the afterlife?" she asks Ben: "I wonder if I'll eva eva see my mum again. I miss her a lot." Ben tells Rose at length about the Angel in Soho Square. Rose is deeply moved as much by the lengths Ben goes to for her as the story about the angel. "I can't believe something that big aint on TV," Rose is puzzled and lazily uses the remote control to activate the television in the living room. On the TV screen is a news report from Soho Square where the reporter from "Aliens of London" is talking to Goldcrest. Goldcrest has been challenged why he charges people money to see an angel and why the angel allows Goldcrest to make money off her presence. "This is showbizz baby," Goldcrest quips, "and the angel helps me by letting me charge and I help her to help the people that come to see her!" Ben notes: "Common and lower-class people are, generally speaking, very gullible. That is no doubt the reason why he is based in such a place like Soho by relying on their shame and fear of divine wrath." Rose agrees: "He's like, a, crooked preacher man and he's offerin people false hope." Gripped by a patriotic spirit, Ben leaps to his feet and begins to get dressed. "You're quite accurate in that summary, Rose. We have got to stop that trickster from defrauding more people - especially as Christmas is approaching and time is especially expensive for lower-income brackets. It's out duty to do something!" "Oh Ben," Rose sighs. "You're amazing. But how can we get in? It'll cost us a hundred pounds each just to get in." "Your mother must have made some kind of money. She was taking part in those foolish trials for Nanteno after all, so her pay must be in her account. Rose, you should get the cash from an ATM machine and that will pay for both of us. There's no worry, I'm sure your mother's life policy insurance will ensure you're well provided for." Rose nods dutifully and does as she is told.
Later that evening, the two of them are in the queue for the theatre in Soho. Ben looks at distaste for all the adverts for live shows, strippers and brothers. The crowd shuffles past posters saying "limited engagement" and "live in person; the angel". At the ticket booth, Goldcrest is accepting money from various people. "Trust me, you won't be disappointed," he tells them all. He leers at Rose: "Well, hellooooo... haven't I seen you somewhere before, sexy?" Ben is affronted: "Kindly give us our tickets and stop sexually harrassing my partner, old man," he says, much to the amusement of the crowds who clap politely in applause. Humiliated, Goldcrest takes the cash and they enter the theatre to take their seats. "I've done some checking," Ben confides to Rose. "Goldcrest is an ex-convict who has been working this area for years as a pimp and forger. Now he's clearly going to defraud people's naive fear of the changing millennium by claiming to have an angel." "And charging money to see her!" Rose is outraged. "It's outrageous!" The lights start to go down. A spotlight on the stage shows a blonde girl (Charlotte Church) in a Greek-style robe, head bowed. Then she raises her arms and unfolds a pair of gigantic white wings, the perfect image of an angel!

"The Tears of an Angel"
Part 3
The crowd are oohing and aahing at the angel. An old lady sobs "praise the lord" while Rose weeps. "Sweet Jesus," she sobs. "She's beautiful!" Only Ben is detached and impartial enough to notice that the angel on stage is crying as well, crystalline drops of regret sliding down her inhumanly perfect. Ben stands up. "Why is that angel crying?" he demands at the top of his voice. "Are you all so lost in your superstitious fervor you have missed the obvious!" The angel indicates her bare foot and the manacle that chains her to the stage. Suddenly the lights go out and Goldcrest rushes in, ordering the audience to leave as the show is over. Rose is now happy. "She was beautiful, Ben, and she even shed a tear for me and me mum!" "Rose, please," Ben sighs, "that being is clearly being held prisoner and we have got to release her and end this charade at once!" "Sounds like I got here just in time!" Captain Jack meets them in the foyer with Adam. "I reckoned that you'd end up here Ben, and we decided to meet up with you. I can tell you right away that the show is only beginning." They sneak around the back of the theatre and Adam uses his skills to pick the lock. Rose is upset. "We can't interfere wiv this!" she hisses. "She's angel sent by god, we can't just kidnap her! This is wrong!" Jack rounds on her. "Damn it, Rose, we've spent enough time wallowing in misery. You have to accept your mother dead and that angel is alive. She needs our help!" Rose bursts into tears. Ben frowns: "He's right, Rose. We have to put aside our feelings and do what is right." Adam nods: "Yeah, Ben. Angel or no angel, she's being held captive by that lowlife who's charging admission to see her - and that's wrong!"
The team break in and sneak through the dark theatre towards the stage. Instantly they are swamped by a team of hoodies and thugs with knives. Immediately, Ben and Jack start fighting them off, as a hoodie grabs Rose and waves a switchblade around shouting "I'm gonna cutchoo woman!!" but Adam rugby-tackles the thugs and saves her. The team turn on Goldcrest who backs away, waving a knife: "Your efforts in unarmed combat are impressive as they are futile. You are now facing a true professional. This is a fact." "Yeah," Rose sneers, "A professional sleeze, maybe!" A trapdoor opens under their feet and Ben, Jack, Adam and Rose tumble into a cage under the stage. There is a loud clapping from the darkness outside a cage and an attractive man with an unearthly quality approaches: "So, we meet again. What an expected pleasure." "You!" Ben gasps. "Andrews!" Yes, it is Andrews (David Bowie) alive and well!

"Tears of an Angel"
Part 4
"Who is this creep?" demands Jack. "We've met him before," Ben explains, referring to the events of Episode 4: STARMAN. "When Adam rejoined the TARDIS in Cornwall. That man was calling himself Professor Andrews, owner of the Farnwell Nuclear Power Complex but in actual fact a space pirate intending to use the nuclear power plant to recharge his space ship with the ultimate aim of conquering Earth and exploiting its natural resources." Adam goes on: "I arranged an eco-protest to break into the complex and Andrews knew the game was up so he fled down to the coast. The whole area of sea was infested by monsters created by the pollution from the plant and they attacked him!" "But you did not see them actually harm me, did you?" Andrews retorts, folding his arms. "I was saved at the last second from right under your noses. You see, the Farnwell plant was only part of one of my strategies to utilize the potential of this otherwise worthless world and its industrious if attractive inhabitants. I've been working to summon one of the beings you so infantilely refer to as "angels" for many months and one descended to Earth just in time to save me from the jaws of death - quite literally!" Andrews laughs. "And you repaid that kindness by turning her into a floorshow?" demands Ben, quivering with rage at the very idea. "That is simply inhuman and unjustifiable." "I do not have to justify myself to anyone. With the Farnwell Complex destroyed, I need capital as soon as possible - which is why I hired Goldcrest and his uncouth subcontractors to utilize the angel to get me as much money as possible. I've already made over fifty-two thousand pounds thanks to the gullible humans gawping and gaping. With this money I shall be able to start afresh and recommence the reparations on my damaged starcraft. You are in absolutely no position to stop me." "Perhaps not, Andrews, but we are!" Everyone looks to the darkness where a squad of commandos in camoflague fatigues and sophisticated laser rifles stand. "I am Robert Clarridan, Taskforce Leader of the Torchwood Institute, an elite anti-extraterrestrial fighting force set up to protect the world from alien scum like you! We've been tracking you ever since Cornwall thanks to the efforts of someone you all probably have met - the local squire, Lethbridge-Stewart..." "You think anyone or anything on this planet can prevent me?" Andrews mocks. "Goldcrest, finish off these fools before the next show!" "Right, boss," says Goldcrest and pulls a lever. Immediately water starts to gush from hidden pipes and floods the understage area. Goldcrest and Andrews step onto a lift that rises out of danger, trapping the TARDIS crew and Torchwood as the water level rises...

Re: My Alternative Children In Need Special
As a special commemoration for the anniversary of Doctor Who, I present the final part of the alternative special "Tears of an Angel"
Ben and the TARDIS team are trapped in a cage under the theatre stage as water floods the area. Just when it looks like they and the Torchwood operatives are going to drown, the TARDIS lands in the corner and the Doctor emerges! He uses his sonic screwdriver on the cage and urges them all into the safety of the TARDIS. Up above, Andrews and Goldcrest see this happen on a security monitor. "It seems that the meddlesome Doctor has returned in his time ship to free his companions and the team from Torchwood. We must remedy this, Goldrest, remedy it immediately!" Goldcret hits a button and an electrode descends into the waist-deep water under the stage. Ben, realizing the danger, urges everyone into the TARDIS but the leader of Torchwood, Robert Clarridan, is not quick enough and is electrocuted. Blue lightning crackles around him and he screams as blood drips from his eyes before he falls back into the water. Upstairs, Andrews watches as the TARDIS takes off. "Aren't you going to do something, boss?" Golcrest asks worriedly "Fool. There is nought that can be done. The TARDIS might go anywhere and anywhen. It is impossible to predict where or when it might go next. The Doctor has escaped." There is the sound of the TARDIS and suddenly the police box appears on stage around the angel and Goldcrest, who find themselves inside the TARDIS control room with the Doctor and his companions. Outside, Andrews snatches up a suitcase stuffed with banknotes from customers and glares at the TARDIS. "You win once again, but the third time is always the decider! I am a most persistent adversary, and I will always triumph in the end!" he shouts and runs off into the night.
Inside the TARDIS, the crew watch on the scanner as Andrews escapes. Torchwood already have Goldcrest in handcuffs for aiding and abetting kidnap and fraud, but the sleeze is unconcerned. "Hey, gorgeous," he leers at Rose. "You want to make an X-rated film!" "How dare you! My boyfriend is none other than Ben Chatham!" Goldcrest gives a lustful look at Ben: "Lucky girl." The surviving Torchwood troops drag Goldcrest out to take back to their base for debriefing. "Well, that's that sorted," the Doctor says cheerfully. Rose wails: "But Andrews has still got away with all the money!" "True," the Doctor says thoughtfully. "But remember he didn't cheat anyone. The customers paid to see an angel and they did. Besides, now the Master's gone, we'll need an intelligent enemy to keep us all on our toes. More the merrier." The Doctor uses his sonic screwdriver to release the angel from the chain. "So, you're a real angel then?" he asks. "Surely you're merely an advanced alien life form that earthborn people simply mistake for an angel. After all, remember the Lucifarians? They were aliens who looked like the devil, but they were just aliens too. After all, why would a real angel allow someone to take her hostage?" The angel speaks for the first time. "Because I wished to feel for myself the beautiful world we watch over. Even Andrews is beautiful. I have come to Earth to give you pause to reflect on the beauty within that all on this world have been given." Ben nods. "This is sadly true. Modern society is too busy rushing headlong into tomorrow. I fear one day we will lose all the values that once made us great." The angel warns: "You should use such wisdom with care," she says and then flies up through the TARDIS ceiling and off into the starry night. "Maybe she really was an angel," Rose whispers in awe. Adam looks grave. "Doctor, Ben, Jack... I'm sorry to inform you that I will no longer be travelling with you in the TARDIS. Those protestors in Rossyle Morach are the ones doing the real work to save this world from the evils of mindless genetical technology, and if I stay with you, then I'm ignoring the responsibilities to which I must attend. I know you'll respect my decision." Rose is distraught. "But, Adam, where are you gonna go?" "Torchwood seems a good bet," Adam replies. "They're using alien technology for the benefit of mankind. I can use the information I learned working with Van Statten to the benefit of others." The Doctor nods approvingly. "Quite right too. I was right to give you a second chance, Adam. You've become a responsible and idealistic young man and I know you will do what needs to be done." "Funny you should mention Torchwood," Jack says cheekily. "Clarridan's death means there's an opening for the new Torchwood head and I think I could really make a difference. Torchwood could be a real asset to UNIT and the European Union. With me and Adam on the team, we can be sure that we keep them on the straight and narrow." "I'm sure you'll manage it," says Ben proudly, shaking his hand. "I can't tempt you to join me?" asks Jack, ruffling Ben's hair. "At least Rose can have you all to herself again, huh?" No one sees the alarmed look on Ben's face as Adam and Jack collect their possessions from the TARDIS and head off towards Torchwood. "Keep in touch," Jack calls to the Doctor. The Doctor smiles sadly and waves after them as they leave.
A few days later in a bleak and overcast graveyard. The Doctor, Rose and Ben are the only ones present at Jackie's funeral as her body is buried beside her husband. The Doctor has used the TARDIS to travel in time and have a stone angel carved by Michaelangelo himself beside the grave. As the ceremony ends, the trio head off through the graveyard to where the TARDIS is waiting. The Doctor asks: "Well, Rose, are you ready to keep travelling with both Ben and myself through time and space?" Rose nodds: "Yeah. I wasn't finking straight when I said that. Ben's right, I can't go back to being a chav in a shop when I can get a greater life - and that's just what Ben can give me," she says happily, slipping her arm around Ben. Ben is uncomfortable at the adoration she is displaying, but manages to hide it well. "Well, first thing first. We'll head back to the estate to clean out Jackie's things once and for all and then we can head off out into the wide blue yonder - Rameses II in the valley of the kings, or we could meet St. Athelran at his French monastry, King Stephan and his war with Matilda, maybe even pop in on Richard III again............" They step inside the TARDIS and it fades away with the familiar vrooming noise.
- the end
Doctor Who will return in "THE SHADOWS OF CHRISTMAS"
